Enjoy scenic Lockhart, Matindale, and Luling. This route serves a wide range of cycling ability from pure recreation to training for long-distance and/or multi-day events such as the ... moreMS 150, Tour de Cure, and Mamma Jamma rides. Terrain is mainly flat with a few rollers thrown just to make the ride a bit of a challenge. We will end the ride at Smitty's BBQ which, especially in the Winter, can be a blessing all its own! There will be 2 rest stops with a 3rd optional in Luling.

The intersection of Hwy 80 and FM 20 (Fentress) is the point at which to ride either 36 miles or opt for the longer 50 mile distance. Contact phone - Clark Shaffer - 512 897 0070. There will be que sheets and a gps link provided.

For gps download of route please go to www.mapmyride.com and search "Lockhart - Bike Austin Route" Total distance is more than 60 miles, however this map includes both the short and long distance routes. I will be providing queue sheets before departure.

The starting point is the courthouse in the center of town (all the spires observable as you enter Lockart from the north off of 183)

A nice ride from Lockhart, Texas over some very scenic roads. Join us for this ACA classic route in the relatively flat expanses of Central Texas. We'll travel on some quiet country ... moreroads (some are "vintage" chip seal and a little bumpy---air up your ties accordingly!) doing a steady "B" paced (14-17 mph) no-drop ride, with re-grouping as needed at the next turn.
With the forecasted mild early spring weather, we can choose from (or stop at both) 2 store stops: in Rockne at 22 miles and/or in McMahan at 37 miles. Total climbing is under 1750 ft. (per RIDEwithGPS)

NOTE I: I do have maps of this route and the RIDEwithGPS link is provided here for downloading.

NOTE II: Helmets are required on ALL Bike Austin rides.

NOTE III: Jeff is, once again, offering to write you an "excused absence" note if you should need one !!!!

Come with you & your equipment ready to ride 56 miles, in time to get signed-in and participate in the starter's meeting at 7:20 AM, for a prompt roll-out at 7:30 AM. Let's all hope for good riding weather!

If you are not familiar with our ride catagories; please see the following 2 sights to insure you are matched for this ride:

For all those interested (all are invited -- crowds permitting), we'll do lunch after the ride at Black's BBQ in Lockhart.

Meet at the Lockhart City Park at the corner of Flores St. (FM 672) & Carver St. Just east of the Plum Creek Elementarty School (ride start map location attached). Rest Rooms are NOT available at this location.
