It has a fantastic focus and core to the sound. These horns also have a great resonance to them. The horns vibrate/resonate in your hands and they just gives you hours of endless fun playing them. Horns have minimal use and are always used indoors. Both are set up and ready to play. This is a vintage 1960s Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone Case. The shell and interior are in very good condition. Unfortunately. The zipper is wearing and ... morewill need to be replaced or fixed soon. It is still functional, but will need attention soon. The hardware has some oxidation and three of the four feet on the bottom are gone. If you want an original case for your VI. Then this will work. It does have space for a clarinet and it will hold some flute cases in the lid. Plan on $35 for shipping in the US.if it is less, we will refund the difference. We will not ship this outside of the US. Google us at JunkDude Music for loads of used and vintage saxophones. Wind instruments and mouthpieces.

Here's an almost new condition Selmer Soloist long shank mouthpiece with a C* facing that came from a 1960's Mark VI that I recently acquired. ... moreThis mouthpiece sill has the shininess that new mouthpieces have right out of the box. About the only flaw that I can see is some scratching on the beak on the right side(left side as you're playing) which is not deep and more superficial than anything. This certainly hasn't been refaced ever. The table. Tip and rails all look sharp. These are very fun mouthpieces to play. To me. They're much better to play than modern Selmer mouthpieces. They have some additional depth and warmness to their sound. This is either due to better quality control back in the day, better rubber compounds, or both. Don't even think about buying a new Selmer Soloist without giving one of these older ones a spin. Truly a great mouthpiece from the golden age of mouthpiece making. International bidders are welcome. But please contact me prior to buying for a shipping quote. International sales are subject to all customs duties, fees and taxes.

This Old Horn.Com Selmer Mark VI Selmer Mark VI#149.930. This nice old Selmer is a fine quality re-lacquer with no visible buffing. We had to get out ... morethe magnifying glass to make the decision to sell it as a re-lac. The engraving is very sharp and the color is perfect for a horn of this age. There is one very small pea dent on the body by the neck ring and a few tiny dinks in the neck itself. The horn has had a very recent overhaul and all pads. Corks and springs are in good condition. The instrument is an excellent player and its sound holds up to its pedigree serial number. In all, a very fine Mark VI in very way. This serial number falls into the range of horns preferred by such greats as Sonny Rollins and is a joy to take on the gig because of its fine appearance and straight ahead Mark VI sound. At this price it's a solid gold investment in a horn that will last the rest of your playing life. All our horns now ship in a ProTec style. Zipper closure, hard sided, foam case unless otherwise instructed. We recommend this case very highly and we love to ship in them because then we are confident there will be no damage. However. If you feel that you must have an original, period trunk case(despite smells, condition, questionable protection for the instrument, etc. we have them available at no additional charge. Have a look at these cases at: CASES or from the Home page under Accessories. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS OR ANY OF OUR HORNS THAT YOU CALL US OR EMAIL SO THAT WE MAY DISCUSS THE INSTRUMENT AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. WE SHIP OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES ONLY BY FEDERAL EXPRESS. NO EXCEPTIONS. NO RETURNS ARE ALLOWED ON INTERNATIONAL SALES. WE ARE A SMALL BUT VERY HIGH QUALITY SELLER OF WIND INSTRUMENTS. WE GUARANTEE SATISFACTION WITH OUR INSTRUMENTS 100% OR YOUR MONEY BACK. PLEASE READ OUR RETURN POLICIES AT: THISOLDHORN.COM/POLICIES This Old Horn. LLC 1548 Copper Creek Ct. Florence. This is a VERY NICE Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone. The Mark VI tenor is a modern icon of saxophones. Made popular by countless jazz greats. The Mark VI is generally considered the finest saxophone ever made, and pristine examples can command prices well in excess of $12000. This saxophone is in excellent condition, but has clearly been played. This horn has the original lacqer at maybe 80% with honest playing wear(see pics) There are a couple of minor dents, but nothing major and no signs of serious damage. Pads and action are very good, and this horn plays very well as is. Neck is not original but is a 126xxx neck that really darkens the tone quality and matches sonically very well with the body. WOW! Up for sale is my prize 1971 Selmer Mark VI tenor Saxophone. This horn has rarely been played other than in my home since I purchased it. When I received the horn though the original pads were still perfect. I had a complete overhaul by SaxOasis.com. the horn plays effortlessly from top to bottom, and though it kills me to part with it, financially I can't keep it. I have another saxophone that I play regularly on a professional level, and this beauty just sits at home. the lacquer is absolutely amazing and ORIGINAL. the horn boasts a beautiful golden honey color, and there are virtually no scratches other than those of normal wear from rubbing clothes, or a neck strap. There are a couple of blemishes on the bell interior, though nothing major or deforming, and literally there are only 2 other barely noticeable dings. One is about 1/8" ... moreand is about 2 inches from the neck strap ring, and the other is on the bottom of the horn near the brace and is about 1/2" long and both are less than 1/16" deep. The horn otherwise is perfect, and plays absolutely perfectly. The neck is original to the horn, there is no serial# on the neck, but color matches perfectly. I can try to answer any other questions personally, though I don't know the history of this gem. This was most definitely a whats known as a"closet horn" and has most definitely not been played too often considering it's 1971 Vintage. The saxophone comes with a hard shaped case protects the horn very well, black in color and 4 latches. The horn will be packed with keys wedged to the best of my ability, and will be insured for the FULL purchase price of the horn and shipped with delivery confirmation. I you prefer to pick up the horn in NH, we can make arrangements to do so SOLELY at my discretion. Any deal or arrangement that sounds suspicious will be reported to Ebay's fraud department. ABSOLUTELY NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING!

Up for sale from my personal collection is a 1936 King Zephyr Tenor Sax in Finish II(silver satin finish. Gold bell) This sax is a very original prime example of a good King. The tone on this horn isnt comparable to any Selmer or Conn which is why these horns keep actually selling! The tone is like a freight train going down the highway louder then my VI or my 10m. This horn has had a FULL OVERHAUL including a full breakdown/rebuild. Body cleaning, pad job, key heigh adjustment, etc, etc. I see auctions all over talking about horns ready to play but have 50 years old pads. Rest assure this horn is fully gig ready to play out of the box. The sax will ship in a protect case packed bombproof. Ergonomics on this sax are pretty decent. Easier to play then most vintage horns. The engraving on this sax is a glorious art deco scene wrapping around ... morea very large area of very clean silver. The metal key guards and keys are a mixture of rounded swanky pieces and square angled keys. This sax was made during the US's Art Deco craze and has an awesome vibe to it. The neck has a matching serial# to the body. King Zephyr Tenor Sax. 176xxx Body& Neck. Silver Satin Finish. Gold Wash bell. Art Deco Engraving Protect case Fully playing Please dont hesitate to shoot me and questions. Comments or concerns you may have on the horn. This Old Horn.Com Selmer Mark VI(Please Visit Our Web Site) Selmer Mark VI Tenor- 204.Xxx A nice looking Mark from 1970 that plays absolutely wonderful. Part of my job at This Old Horn is to play all the instruments regularly to: A) just know as much as possible about each horn. And B) to track each instruments condition and readiness to play. When I get to the Mark VIs I usually start with this horn because I know that it is so Mark VI"dead center" in sound- tone and timbre, volume and amount of buzz. This old girl plays and sounds exactly like you would expect a Mark VI to sound. I cannot think of an attribute more attractive than consiatency. A horn that is reiable and always puts out the same sound for the same effort. This sax is exactly that and I'll hate to see it go. This Old Horn. LLC 1548 Copper Creek Ct. Here is a great Viking M58 tenor sax that I have been playing for a few months and decided to sell since I play mostly piano now and could use the cash. This horn has been set up by my local professional tech and it is ready to play in fact the horn is finally broken into and it sounds fantastic. I also added palm key risers. It is cork made and you can adjust it to your likings or simply remove it, the horn has a couple lacquer wear around the strap hole, thumb area(normal in all saxes and a very small on the bell that is hardly noticable, no dings, no damage just a very cool looking horn and ready to play. it comes with the flight case. As stated on the Viking website: The M58 Tenor was developed in the spirit of the late SBA/early Mark VI tenors of the 1950’s. You can see the influence throughout the horn; from the lack of a high F# key. ... moreTo the beautiful French key styling, to the lovely engraving, and of course classic Cognac lacquer… this tenor is aesthetically and sonically fantastic!

Selmer Mark VI#207.689, If you dig the vintage look. That look that says"old pro" whenever you open your horn case then old#207 may just speak to you. This is one of those stealth tenors, the ones that look like hell but in fact are in great mechanical shape and play like a Mark VI should. The alluring effect of a jazz war horse, dragged from smokey bar to after hours club, night after night, is for many players and fans alike a heady brew of experience and cool. The fact is that this is a well worn re-lacquer which has. Nonetheless, been well maintained in every way except the cosmetic. And this old girl can sing. It has that great, center core Mark VI sound, able to softly croon a ballad or belt out a shout chorus with equal aplomb. You see, in every way this is a true Mark VI and now that pros and us lesser mortals have realized ... morethat there are more Marks worth their time and money other than the 5 digit horns, a whole world of fine saxophones has opened up for consideration. Since 5 digit Mark VIs zoomed up to the $10 grand area, with some horns at some sellers actually nipping at $20,000, professional musicians wanting that inimitable Mark VI sound but unable to face the 5 digit prices have wisely taken another look at the higher number horns and hit pay dirt. We sell a lot of Marks with later serial numbers and by doing so we've met a bunch of cool. Clued in musicians who know the score. And, that's who this old girl is intended for. Not for a graduation present(unless it is for a really savvy kid) or a collectors wall or for a society band who's boss demands"pretty" from his section men. No, this horn is for the player, the serious player who wants the sound over-all and that Mark VI feel, the keys that almost seem to move on their own and the feedback from hands and jaw that make the music their own. If that's you. Then we have a new friend to introduce you to. And, at this price, it's probably the best bargain in the house. THE SPECS. General Condition: as seen in t

Check out this near mint condition Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone neck. This was originally purchased in the mid to late 70's by a friend of mine who purchased a selmer tenor and for some reason felt he needed an extra neck. This neck has been played very little. And is in awesome condition. I had it fitted for my'55 selmer which had had a horrible accident that resulted in a pulled down neck, turns out I didn't need it(yes my repairman is that good) When I use it on my'55 it gives the horn a more contemporay sound. My repairman actually liked the neck I am selling better than the one that he repaired. I will charge a flat $9.95 shipping fee within the continental US. Out of the US sales will be adjusted accordingly.
Up for sale is a fantastic Selmer Mark VI tenor sax neck. This was my personal go to neck! It is all original. Never had any pull down or repairs and is perfect! This is an older style selmer saddle from the 5 digit era. Laq. and it really seems to enhanced the resonance and response. Compared to other selmer necks that ice played) This one is a killer player. It is a European Selmer neck do there is no serial number in it. Posted with
This saxophone is a wonderful example of the excellence of the Selmer Mark VI model made in France between 1954 and 1974. Widely regarded as one of the best saxophone models ever produced. The Selmer Mark VI has been a favorite of several top performers, including Michael Brecker. I used this saxophone in college many years ago as my'concert horn' that I would bring out for special occasions and competitions. It has been well cared for. Maintained, and loved over the years. KEN BEASON overhauled this horn to perfection. And it has had his patented key pad clamps on it during storage to keep the pads healthy and the keys in alignment. Over the years I have become much more of a guitar player. So much so that I never play the sax anymore. I am selling this beautiful horn is so that it is in the deserving hands of a serious musician ... moreor collector who will appreciate it. I am hoping to replace this horn with an investment-grade guitar. Here is a short video I made of this saxophone: On Feb-24-13 at 14:51:43 PST. Seller added the following information: Please note: This sax still has its Original Lacquer! I believe this contributes to the tone significantly. On Feb-24-13 at 23:20:35 PST. Seller added the following information: Note: YouTube is telling me the video is blocked in Germany because of copyright. If you're in Germany and would like to see this video. Let me know and I will make a version without the soundtrack that you can watch. Original Selmer Case for Balanced Action Tenor Saxophone. It is old. But still perfectly functional as a case. The hinges and handle and clips are all in good working order, and the case is overall in reasonable condition with no major defects, just a certain amount of scuffing. This came with a Selmer BA which I have just purchased, and in order to recoup some of my outlay I am selling it. It is a rare and collectable item, which would be a happy and characterful housing for someone's BA, SBA or Mark VI. Collection preferred, but I will ship if necessary, shipping may be expensive for such a bulky item.
Original one owner Selmer mark VI tenor saxophone serial number 148381(1967) This sax has very low playing time as I only used it for concerts while going to school(high school) Last used in the early 70’s. Always in a smoke free home. As I am not a saxophone expert and having been in storage for 40 years I took it to renowned saxophone technician Eric Satterlee of Meridian Winds in Okemos, Michigan(works on both University of Michigan and Michigan State Instruments) to put it in peak condition on March 04, 2013- a few pads replaced, cleaned, lubricated, regulated, etc. see details on receipt in the photos. This is the first time this instrument has ever been in the shop for any reason. Presently it is in excellent condition ready to play. As stated above it is all original with about 95% original lacquer. Just normal wear, age, some scratches ... moreand some very small dings typically about 5mm in diameter and less than 0.5 mm deep(See photos) Please look at the photos carefully as they show the condition much better than can be described in words. Saxophone comes with a C* mouthpiece. Ligature, mouthpiece cap, plastic body cap, and music lyre all original Selmer products that came with the instrument when new. I do not see a serial number on the neck but am absolutely certain it is original. Case is the original Selmer Tri-pak that is designed to hold a Clarinet in a fitted compartment in the right side of the case and a Flute which would clip to the case top also on the right side. The exterior of the case is two piece molded plastic(top and bottom) with a zipper closure. There are some minor marks and scratching on the exterior. Both handles and zipper are intact and functional. The interior is in excellent clean condition with all original snaps and closures. Please ask all questions before bidding We ship within 2 days of cleared receipt of payment. Delivery confirmation numbers are included in the shipping cost. Along with all packing materials needed. Let me first begin this listing to tell you I am not an expert by any means on instruments. I sell for others and have had many interesting and rare items over the years this one by far is the most exciting. As I am told this saxophone was purchased in 1962 from a music store by the former owner and played it in high school for many years and has since been stored. The owner has since past away and the family wishes to let it go to a new home.Having taken it to a music shop I am told it is in good working condition although it has not been played but all the keys are working although will need new pads and the estimate at that time was $400-$600 for repairs. This is a Mark VI Selmer(Paris) tenor saxophone 1958 serial# 75401.The name is synonomous for a fine saxophone known all over the world. Has the original lacquer finish and I believe ... morethe original neck although the numbers have scratched off as well as on the bow which if understand correctly was the practice for an instrument that was made in Paris shipped to U.S. to avoid the tariffs the#s were scratched off. Please correct me if I am wrong on this fact. I have tried to take as many pictures as possible should you need more info please ask. As stated seems to be in working condition does have misc. scratches and loss of lacquer on the bell. Has 1 dimple dent.Has a Bundy mouthpiece with a ROC cover and the reed clamp is marked France. Sold as is and stated. GOOD LUCK! a1.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*3Ad%60%3Ea1%3E-13d8a093c8c-0xfd-

For your consideration is a circa 1960 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone with its original lacquer. Serial#71622. This great horn was Frank Glover's personal saxophone for over 25 years. When paired with a great mouthpiece. Like an old Otto Link Five* mouthpiece, it has that beautiful liquid sound and huge low end we have come to love from the Selmer Mark VI. The action is unbelievably quick. It has had two small custom keys made to make the high F# photos 6&7) and altissimo register(photo 8) smoother. Saxophone is in good playing condition but needs to be recorked(see photo)
vintage Selmer Mark VI Tenor Sax. The serial number is 12674X. Which by our research dates it to about 1965. The neck has a serial number of 9596X(look in the description for explanation) You will find pictures both on Ebay, and also in a slideshow below. Here is the description: First off. The horn comes with what appears to be the original tri-pack case(It has room for a clarinet and flute in addition to the sax) The case is in Excellent condition with light wear. One of the compartments has been repaired and the handle appears to have been replaced. But overall, the case is exceptional. The horn DOES NOT come with a mouthpiece. Sax comes with tenor pad saver. The horn itself has all of the attributes that make the VI the ultimate tenor for most players to this day. The tone-booster pads are in very good/excellent shape. And the mechanism ... moreis tight. The action is smooth as butter and a super pro technician set this horn up to play beautifully. It has a surprisingly robust bottom end, which may be due to a neck with a serial number 9596X, which is lower than the number 12674X, on the horn. Possibly, someone selected a different neck to improve the bottom end, as this Selmer really wails not only in the upper end, but also on the low end, where many Selmers are stuffy. We have discovered some discussion on the internet that says necks were selected after the horns arrived in Elkhart, Indiana. Obviously, there is no way to tell. What I can tell you is that we received this horn from an 83 year-old man, and he says he bought the horn new with this neck. He was actually kind of surprised that we asked him about it. Obviously if you're a Selmer expert you might be able to shed some light on this. But I will say that after having spoken to the gentlemen, I believe that he bought it this way new. Anyway, the lacquer appears original and covers approximately 60-65%25 of the horn. There is typical wear- scratches, with a few dings on the body. There are two dents on the bow(pictured) and what appears to have been
Immaculate. Mint condition Selmer Mark VI Tenor with matching(serial number) neck. This has been my baby girl for over 20 years. And has been treated as such. Pristine condition(no dents, dings, etc. M 116XXX. Not only is this jewel in MINT condition. But has known only the touch and sounds of those worthy to play such a fine instrument, if you chose to believe in inanimate objects retaining energy's from previous owners. She's traveled the world with me(literally) and played many a fine gig. But it's time to let her go. Pass the torch to somebody who wants to play the hell out of her, if you will. I am also including a Selmer Solid Sterling neck along with the original Mark VI neck. I prefer the tone produced from using the Selmer Sterling Silver. And would not like to split it from the horn I used it on. Horn also comes with ... morea hard traveling case. Any questions. Please, feel free to ask. A little more history: My father purchased this for me when i was in 9th grade- 1989-1990(four years after I had started playing sax- first model was an alto Vito model: We were at a soccer tournament in Cheyenne WY. And happened to stop into a local pawn shop. Low and behold. There was a beautiful tenor Mark VI just sitting there waiting for me, in the original case and all(wish I would have had the forethought to keep the original case) Took some convincing. But my father finally gave in and made the purchase.
This is a vintage Mark VII(M262XXX 1977) that is paired with a Mark VI neck. The M in the serial number. I’ve read, indicates it has the same body as the Mark VI. Depending on who you ask, this horn is either a terrible mistake by Selmer or a“diamond in the rough” and one of the best units they ever made. In my experience, this horn holds its own with almost any Mark VI. The Mark VII is known for its brightness and projection. It will cut through any background ensemble when you are soloing. The Mark VI neck softens the brightness and fattens the sound. This horn has the best of both lines– a rich and even tone– beautiful sound– bright. Centered high overtones and rich centered low overtones. The horn has tight. Fast action and no leaks. My horn technician has gone over it and it has no playability issues. All necessary corks and pads have ... morebeen replaced, where needed, and this horn seals nicely on each note. The neck has a mic port. Which does not leak. It kind of gives it a more of a vintage vibe. There is finish wear on both sides of the neck which indicates a prior repaired pull-down. But has no effect on the playability. There is typical wear for a horn of this age. It has been heavily buffed and re-lacquered some time ago. It is a players piece and not the right horn for a person looking for a stunning original example. Excellent condition otherwise. There are no dents. Included is a Pro Tec hard contoured case in great condition. If you are seeking a vintage Selmer for about half of what the pricey cousins go for. This may be for you. As this is a used instrument. So please ask questions and examine pictures thoroughly PRIOR to bidding. Should you need more close-ups please contact me. Thanks for looking.
1966 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone with O riginal Selmer case The Mark VI Alto and Tenor saxophones are considered by many players and collectors alike as being one of the greatest model woodwinds ever produced and they are getting harder to find every year. Our Selmer is in good condition and has recently been completely serviced by our horn repairman. All keys were straightened and freed(if necessary) All corks and pads have been replaced as well. Overall. This horn has been fully restored to playing condition and is ready to blow right out of the box! The horn's lacquer finish has seen great wear in it's 45+ years of use and looks exactly like what you'd expect any old jazzman's well loved horn to look. This truly"dates" the instrument and gives it a rich. Full character a newer horn simply cannot embody. The ... morehorn has seen several minor repairs over the years, none which effect it's amazing tone and feel in-hand. One resolder can be seen on the backside of the horn on a two-point key bracket. The solder joints are very solid but you can see clear signs of wear the lacquer was heated. The original Selmer neck has been modified at some point over the years with an attachment mount for a instrument mic. This attachment point still works just fine and is ideal for a player using this horn in a live situation. Also included in the sale is the original Selmer hardcase. Along with the case. A leather Selmer outerbag is also included too. This is truly the"Holy Grail" of the saxophone world and these Selmers are truly investments as much as they are functional players. Now's your chance. Selmer MK6 Tenor Saxophone Mki 119xxx All new pads with overhaul completed a few months ago.I would love to keep it but have to let it go. It plays great with a balanced tone with gorgeous sound. The 119xxx MK6 have a good reputation by many players.Even Coltranes MK6 was close to this,It seems to have a bigger sound with great resonance, compared to others i would say it certainty does and have had players always ask about this one I have had several name techs appraise this as an original lacquer 119xx Selmer Mk6.Quite a bit of the lacquer has gone but it blends well with the lacquer on there showing a lovely patina that only improves over time. This has been is kept in its case The neck has never been bent in any way and it is a great neck something special i think.when they are bent down it really messes things up so be careful with that. ... moreThe Case is really nice orig MK6 case with plush velvet. Selmer Mark VI Selmer Mark VI- 223.046 A very nice re-lacquered Mark VI from 1974 with a recent overhaul. There is probably more mystique wrapped around the Mark VI than any instrument since the violins of Cremona. Here at This Old Horn we handle a lot of Mark VIs and I can say with absolute confidence that there is no difference in quality or playing qualities between the early Marks. The vaunted"five digit" horns and these later examples. If the horn is maintained properly and if it is set up properly by a technician who is also a good player then it will be a fine instrument. All saxophones are slightly different in sound. One from the other. Much smarter and more learned men than I have tried to ascertain the reason why one horn from a production lot will have a brighter tone with lots of highs while another will offer a darker ... moreand more restrained sound with the middle of the spectrum emphasized. But, any saxophone player knows that it is true and it is not that one is better than the other, just that they sound different. I have played Mark VIs from the mid-fifties, near the beginning of the marque that were not to my liking and we recently sold a horn with the serial number 236,xxx which is a good playing and delightful sounding Mark VI with all the attributes of the type plus the bonus that it looked almost showroom new. This#223.046 horn is a very nice Mark VI with good, centered sound that is easily recognizable as the Mark VI it is. All our horns now ship in a ProTec style. Zipper closure, hard sided case unless otherwise instructed. We recommend this case very highly and we prefer to ship in them because we are confident there will be no damage. However. If you feel that you must have an original, period trunk case(despite smells, condition, questionable protection for the instrument, etc. we have them available at no additional charge. Have a look at these cases at: CASES or from the Home page under Accessories. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS OR ANY OF OUR HORNS THA

We are offering this incredible Selmer. Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone at a great price for it's value! Serial number 74027 places the date of manufacture c.1957. One of the best Mark VI's we've ever played here at the store. This instrument came to us very dirty and neglected for decades. When we cleaned it up we discovered that there was practically no lacquer left on the horn, so we opted to remove the little that was left. Now the raw brass is taking on beautiful hues of green, orange and purple in the natural patina that is forming. Mechanically the horn had had a lot of use and that is evident in the one cracked pearl and wear on the other pearls. There is evidence that a dent was removed from the bow and there is still a ding showing on the bow guard. Some pock marks in the upper stack near the palm keys. Apparently a dent ... morewas removed there. There are no other defects that we can see. We did no dent removal. Slightly tightened up some play(lost motion) in the mechanism. And did some countersink on a few screws. All springs are new! Overall the condition has been set up to last a lifetime. We just overhauled this tenor using Music Medic pads and brushed brass resonators. The combination of the lacquer removal and the large flat resonators gives this horn a fast response and a real kick to the articulation. What a sound! So creamy and fluid, full of color, yet has a certain brightness. The action has been set up to have a light touch. Overall one of the great Mark VI's of all time! Don't miss this opportunity! We have seen others selling this quality for double the price. We just need to get back our investment and move this horn along to someone who will love and appreciate her. Since we could only include 12 photos here I put more photos on a myspace page. To view them use this link: myspace.com/vintageflutes Shipping in the US will be a flat $55. Thanks for stopping by. You're checking out a 1970. Original lacquer Selmer Mark VI Tenor. Serial number 177xxx. Check out many more photos of this horn! What a great player! This horn nice and tight! It's fully regulated and ready to go right out of the box! This was used as a backup horn for awhile by a local pro. But this gentleman moved out of the area and it has been sitting untouched for a few years now. The horn got a repad not all that many years ago, and it got very little use from that time until it was sold to us! So these pads are in EXCELLENT shape; they've barely been touched. Everything about this horn is solid and ready to roll. Mechanically it's in great shape. Even with the lacquer wear across the whole horn. It's not bad to look at either. No leaks, no major trauma ever to speak of. Cared for professionally ... morefor the duration of its life. There's no reserve on this instrument because we're looking to move it. Comes with the original neck, but not the original case. Everything you need is in the photos, so remember to! We ship to the US. Canada and UK CONFIRMED PayPal addresses via UPS. Current shipping estimate is NY to Cali; the shipping total will be adjusted at the time of invoice according to your location and proper insurance amount. New York State buyers must pay sales tax. I was just informed that the Picasa Web Album link hasn't been working. Hopefully I have it fixed now.
As a collector of professional sax's for years. The Selmer Mark VI's tenors have been some of my favorite. Many people claim they have no equal. I don't know if I would go that far, but I must say I really like the way this one plays. I find the sound on it to be quite lyrical and yet powerful from top top to bottom. The keys are tight stable and light to the touch. It feels good in my hands and, the horn has the characteristic resonance that these are noted for. There is lacquer missing on the horn as you would expect from a 40 year old horn, but much of it is intact and really golden and beautiful( see photos) There is a slight bow in the body but this is no concern and also not uncommon. The pads are new, which is a great benefit to you as that you will not have to worry about any additional cost on pads. I had my tech do an ... moreextensive adjustment and regulation on the horn this week. It is ready to play and enjoy. I had the feet on one key guard solder a while back, but this is also no concern. Included is a used hard case with working latches and a good solid handle. No mouthpiece. Important! I realize the anxiety you could have from spending a lot of money on a sax before playing it. Your happiness with your investment is the most important aspect of this whole process. so you can buy with no worries.

What a great horn. You're checking out a 5-digit Mark VI Tenor. Serial number 93xxx, from 1961. The photos you see here and in the album have photos of a pickup in the neck. That pickup has been professionally removed and brazed in by a professional tech 40 successful years in the business. There are photos of the updated neck; it looks great. With the pickup gone, the neck is a perfect seal on the horn and what had already played fantastic before now plays even better! Please check out many more photos of this horn here at the link to the Web Album. It's obviously a relac from quite awhile ago. But original lacquer or not, this thing is a 5 digit horn and it sounds like one. It was professionally overhauled/repadded not long ago, and the pads have had almost zero usage since! They look great and the horn is super tight. It's ... moregot responsive, snappy action. It has not had any major trauma or needed extensive repair work. It only has two unoriginal solder joints at the Eb guard. Comes in original case and the neck is also original. This horn is great mechanical condition and boasts a great feel with rich sound. Again. There are several more photos of this horn on the Web Album located at this link. One more thing. This instrument is here at our shop on consignment so there are no returns. Priced to sell. This horn will be shipped via UPS. Shipping to California is an estimated $149 with proper insurance. Adjustments will be made in the invoice depending on your location. We ship to the US and Canada to PayPal CONFIRMED addresses! New York State buyers must pay sales tax. Thanks for looking!

1963 Selmer Mark VI Tenor A rare'as-is' sale from WorldwideSax.com: Serial#111.Xxx made in 1963, Made in France; the body is in excellent shape with 95% original lacquer. The neck is actually from an older selmer(SBA or BA) and arrived with some pull-down but that has since been improved, but also original lacquer. The only other'bad' to mention is that there looks to be proof of neck receiver resolder and spot-relacquer. It was very well done. you can see this in the pictures. Minor dings and dents will be burnished out-bow, thumbrest are the two biggest. Research suggests that the"5-digit" craftsmen actually were credited with horns through#110k. This one is right at the cusp of that greatness but without the cost. Is this a Player's Horn? I can't say that for sure.it's a Very Pretty Player's Horn. ... moreAnd you get to test necks as you like in time. I preferred to leave this with a vintage one for the sale. I would gladly discuss the swap to my Gold plated Ponzol I have in stock. It plays nicely on this sax, just different. This sax may have the original pads in it + resonators. I will reuse the original resos for the rebuild. Case is a non-original, vintage, wood one. It is good but has room to add more needed padding; latches are saggy. A Full Rebuild is recommended in very near future. However, I did create a SOUND FILE on this tenor. Item#WWS32.00.3251.3-0 SOUND FILE(this sax! NECK OPTION? ask me about my Gold plated Ponzol I have in stock. I would gladly sell/swap the necks AND provide a Sound File comparison if that's something you would like to consider. It would be a $200 savings for you purchase to the Ponzol(currently retailing used at $355) The vintage neck is"smokier" sounding. And the Ponzol has more punch and focus. RARE FIND! 86.XXX SELMER MARK VI TENOR SAXOPHONE! VERY CLOSE SERIAL# TO MICHAEL BRECKER'S HORN! Ok, so this has been my main horn for the past 5 years, and the action feels like butter, it's one of those that feels so smooth in your hands, and the sound is incredible. totally a Brecker horn for sure! I am the 2nd owner, and got it from the original owner, a high school music teacher here in los Angeles who bought it new in 1960. It's an 86,xxx which is the most sought after serial number of all the 5 digit Selmers and american engraved. It's not just close to Brecker's, like an 85, or 87, but it's right on the money at 86,xxx, and it really has a special personality, and a mix of the dark 5 digit sound with a great core and spot on intonation, but with a beautiful lively sound to it. I can really play contemporary ... moreon it without feeling like it's just all darkness, which many 5 digits are. This one does it all. You can sound very authentic playing jazz or fusion. It's in awesome condition and ready to play. Most of the pads are pretty new(all except the 3 left hand palm keys, but they're fine too) and it's playing great right now, so it needs nothing! Lot's of Ebay horns need overhauls, so this one being in gig ready shape saves you $800 right there! The neck has the matching serial number, and does have a pickup(just like Brecker's did) I wouldn't touch a thing, it plays great as is! It was re lacquered years ago but not overly buffed. The engraving on the bell is still visible, and feels sharp when you rub your finger over it. I don't think my pics show that very well. Never any damage that i can see, a couple very small dings that are absolutely no issue. If the lacquer were original it would easily be a 12 thousand dollar horn. Personally, I think it plays and sounds as good as any original 5 digits I've played. When I got it the relac was no issue, it just sounded and felt too good, it didn't matter. For recording you will notice how exact every

This is a Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone that I've owned for 35 years. It's a great playing horn and I know you will enjoy playing on it. I've just gotten to the point in my life where I'm more of an alto player. And my professional days are few, plus I have some hand pain issues that the tenor brings out more than the alto. I took this horn on the road with the Larry O'Brien Glenn Miller Orchestra from 1996-98. It comes with the Selmer flight case and no mouthpiece. I had this horn regularly serviced over the years by good repairman. I can see two broken solder points around the C key guard. There was also some tone hole damage and repair at the same spot. The repair work was professionally done and doesn't affect the playing. This horn might need a few pads and a tune up, but it plays top to bottom as is without ... moreany issues, to me at least. Shipping will be $50 USA only please. Pay pal is preferred, and no returns please. Thanks and Good Luck! Please read my feedback and bid with confidence, also email any questions you may have, I would be happy to answer any questions. On Apr-08-13 at 08:59:05 PDT. Seller added the following information: Please don't bid if you don't intend on paying. THANKS!

BACHornDoctor Auction Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone ~ Relacquer Done Right(Read Description For Details) ~ Serial 113xxx Description: From this horn's previous owner. We know that this is what you could call a"guilt free re-lacquer" The tech who overhauled and refinished this really great playing Mark VI had respect for the instrument, and the skill to do it right. First and most importantly, this horn has not been buffed. Instead, he hand polished it which removed only the tarnish and no metal. Second, he had the engraving touched up anywhere that normal handling had softened the cuts. He then wafted one light coat of lacquer over the body and bell, but not the keys, leaving them original. The result of all this care and concern is the wonderful instrument you see here. It's from a very popular serial number series and ... moreplays just like a well set up Mark VI should: focused but not too much, gutsy when pushed but not too much. There is an added bar from the F to the F# key that ensures the F# key stays down when it's supposed to. This instrument comes with a Max hard case by Protec, which is in great shape. It also comes with a lightly used Vandoren T6 mouthpiece with its original ligature and cap. You can see that this horn looks great and has been well maintained. But wait until you hear it. The intonation really lines up, and the tone is as lush as you'd expect it to be. One of our techs described how this horn feels: The action as medium and not too heavy. There's no lost motion in the keys. The keys have a really positive feel to them; there's no squishyness to them. This horn is a prime example of what a Selmer Mark VI should be. This horn has the approval from the technicians at BAC Horn Doctor, and it is ready to be played! Don't miss your shot at owning one of the best Selmer horns you'll run across! Good luck and happy bidding! A special message from our founder and President: Thank you so much for taking the time to view our auction. My staff and I take great p

It has beautiful original lacquer(Right around 120xxx. VI's tend to have been engraved with a light touch, but this is normal for that serial range. It also has a fresh, new full overhaul that was done well and feels good under the fingers. Structurally, this horn has some rippling in the brass on the back of the body, from a past body bend. There is also a fairly ugly resoldered keyguard foot on low Eb and some scrapes on the back of the bottom bow. The horn plays great, so it would not seem that this stuff has made too much of a ... moredifference to the tone. The tone of this horn is medium dark with quite a bit of power. Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This 1957 Mark VI has a bit more than 90% of the original lacquer remaining. Most of the lacquer wear occurs in the common places- some scratches and wear along the back side of the body and on some of the touch-pieces. Remarkable physical condition all around. Though we did remove a single small dent from the"left" side of the bottom bow. The neck does have the matching serial number, and even appears to have the original cork. This tenor currently has plastic resonators. Which means it was overhauled at some point in time. The pads are in fair condition given their age- an overhaul shouldn't be necessary for at least a couple of years. The sound is on the darker side with a rich. Centered core. It feels particularly ... morefocused and pun chy compared to many other 6x.Xxx's. The upper register has a very nice depth and presence. We BUY and SELL vintage horns of all types. Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This is a vintage 1962 Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone. The serial number is103xxx. Putting it into a highly sought after range of serial numbers for Selmer Mark VI tenors. The horn has a classic early sixties Mark 6 tone and a great vintage sound with an extremely smooth action. The sax produces a steady even tone in the upper and lower registers. It sounds full. But not too bright, and powerful, but very capable of great warmth and subtlety on ballads. Like many of this vintage. This horn has been re-lacquered quite some time ago, well before I purchased it, but it doesn’t seem to have affected the sound. Overall. It’s just a great playing and gorgeous sounding horn! It’s sad to have to let it go. The horn comes with the original neck. It has been completely overhauled recently and has new ... morepads and resonators. A few minor parts were replaced(the neck strap ring. And the base of the octave key) It has been meticulously maintained and is in excellent playing condition. Pics tell the rest of the story!
