100% made in Europe

Théa: 100% European-Made Eye Care

European quality exported to 75 countries

The recent COVID health crisis highlighted the risks run by pharmaceutical companies who cut production costs by outsourcing their manufacturing to subcontractors in countries with lower social standards. For 30 years, all Théa products have been made in 100% Europe, 60% of them in France, a country that is home to several of the world's leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Being at the cutting edge of progress means not only calling on the best in Europe, but also retaining control over strategic technologies.

Théa offers some twenty different pharmaceutical forms (preservative-free multi-dose bottles, single-dose products, ointments, gels, ophthalmic inserts, etc.), each requiring its own know-how and equipment. Manufacturing and packaging are therefore entrusted to the best specialists for each product category, on European sites, mainly in France.

In 2002, Théa acquired a family-run business founded in 1946 in Milan, specializing in the marketing and manufacture of opthalmic and ENT products. More than 20 years later, Farmila is one of the most modern factories in Europe. From its sterile lines, nearly 60 million bottles of preservative-free eye drops in the ABAK® system and almost as many Airless tubes for ophthalmic gels are produced every year.

Théa has another factory of its own in La Rochelle (France), totally dedicated to the manufacture of an ophthalmic insert for cataract surgery or certain ophthalmic diagnostics. Our highly-specialized team is housed in a 1,700 m² facility which was completed just a few weeks ago. This manufacturing site meets the most stringent requirements in terms of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), but also from an environmental point of view. The project is part of a CSR approach, with local companies commissioned, photovoltaic panels installed and the roof planted with vegetation, among other things.
