raining and the development of young practitioners or surgeons have always held a significant place at Théa. This commitment is particularly evident through strong support for numerous initiatives and programs such as:

  • The European Board of Ophthalmology (E.B.O.), a European diploma of excellence in ophthalmology that allows the new generation of practitioners to add the title "Member of the European Board of Ophthalmology" and practice throughout Europe.

  • The European Meeting of Young Ophthalmologists (E.M.Y.O.), an annual event designed by and for young eye care professionals.

  • Wet Labs or Dry Labs, workshops where young surgeons can train or refine their skills in ocular surgery techniques using simulators.

  • The Théa inteRnational cOntest of clinical cases in PatHologies of the eYe (TROPHY), a clinical case competition that provides winners the opportunity to present their work at renowned research congresses.

All of these initiatives are gathered under one banner, Théa Academy, which also offers a range of resources available to healthcare professionals throughout their careers, enabling experts to share their practices.

Because the practice of medicine is constantly evolving, Théa supports European and international excellence in training programs that prepare young practitioners to apply the latest medical knowledge for the prevention and treatment of eye diseases.

This includes the development of several essential tools for the practical training of eye care profesionals:

  • A surgical simulator: Théa co-financed the surgical simulator at the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital (CHU). After the exercise, the surgeon receives a detailed and objective assessment of their learning and progress.

  • "Dry Labs" workshops: Both young and experienced eye care professionals can practice various ophthalmic surgery techniques on artificial eyes, usually made of silicone. These hands-on workshops are organized or supported by Théa around the world.

Enabling African healthcare professionals to:

  • Train in their home countries or in the most innovative French or international services.

  • Ensure that the experience gained directly benefits local populations is one of the top priorities of the Fondation Théa.
